Massachusetts woman completes dating marathon across the United States
Marlborough, Mass., August 24, 2010 — What started on July 5, 2010 as a 50 date expedition across all 50 states in 50 days has ended in Hawaii on August 13, 2010 for Marie Stuart Noel but did she find her true love on this unprecedented journey? Marie says there are at least three guys she'd be willing to date a second time so the news is encouraging. Marie Stuart Noel, a resident of Marlborough, Massachusetts just spent 40 days crossing the country sometimes driving from a date in one state to a date in another to personally experience her own love connection. Why the marathon?
Marie, who runs Massachusetts’ Singles Magazine (MSM), asks singles to profile themselves in MSM all the time. One single woman thought that Marie, herself, should be profiled in MSM since she is single. The idea of being showcased in her own magazine gave Marie the idea to look for her soul mate nationally. Marie explains “I ask people to showcase themselves to get dates in MSM all the time. I ask them because I enjoy making love connections. Being single for a while, prompted me to go after my own love connection.” When asked if she found her true love during her journey, Marie replied “I found three men whom I would love to have a second date with.”
In March 2010, Marie set up a blog, which included her relationship resume, to chronicle her entire adventure online. She joined a few dating websites, and enlisted her friends and colleagues to help with finding her dates. She secured the services of a dating coach, Karen Bayer of Next Stage Coaching, to help guide her through the journey. Marie also set up an online page to raise $5,000 during her trip benefiting Save the Children, a charity she deeply cares for.
Marie had her first date in Manchester, New Hampshire. She drove from state for state for thirty-minute to four-hour dates. Determined, she spent her days driving cross country, her evenings on short dates and her nights blogging about the experience on mariedatesamerica.com. Marie, at times, had two dates in one day. Marie states “To save me some time, I doubled up dates from the smaller states. For example, I had a lunch date in New Jersey then rushed for a dinner date in New York. I spent enough time with each date to learn if there’s any compatibility.” When asked about her most memorable experience on the journey, Marie replies, “The personal introduction service Two of Us held couple mixers for me. Also, I had Tennessee style barbecue for the first time, very tasty.”
Though Marie has successfully dated America, she has yet to reach her fundraising goal. Since returning from her last date in Hawaii, she has been working hard on getting more donations for Save The Children. Marie is still actively seeking to "Save the Children", a nonprofit humanitarian relief organization that helps children in need. Currently she has reached less than 1% of her goal.
